F150 muffler

Has anyone had problems with fiber like material coming out of their exhaust

Does it mean the muffler is breaking down and is it al right to drive it
The truck is a 2009 f 150 xl v8

Re: F150 muffler

It is probably the guts of the catalytic converter and not the muffler. I know they are supposed to have a long warrantee on them but I can't remember how long it is or the mileage limit. You'd have to check with Ford on that. I don't recall a muffler coming apart from the inside, but I guess it is also possible.

Re: F150 muffler

A fiber material definitely sounds like something coming out of the muffler. If the cat was coming apart it would be chunks of material.

I've heard of this happening with "glass packs".

Your biggest problem is it will just get louder but you'll be fine
