rally tires for eclipse 1g

I am looking for the tallest tires that I can get on my 1991 Eclipse GSX, without doing body or suspension modifications. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
Marc

These are the sizes we've test fit for your GSX along with respective overall diameters:

44950 205/55-16 24.9 49500 215/45-17 24.6
45300 215/50-16 24.5 49650 225/45-17 25.0
45750 225/50-16 24.9
49400 205/50-17 25.1

215/45-17 REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING WHEEL SIZE AND OFFSET
17X7.5 ET38 OR LESS 17X8 ET35 OR LESS

225/45-17 25.0 REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING WHEEL SIZE AND OFFSET
17X7.5 ET35 OR LESS 17X8 ET30 ONLY

Keep in mind the above are street tires which have a tread depth of 10/32" whereas rally tires such as the Kumho K700 will have 13/32" tread depth.

Thanks for the Reply, Cy. I am trying to get the rally look and some of the advantages I see to having more clearance out here in southwest colorado with all the stuff we find on the road, including snow. I want to keep the stock rims. Do your recommendations still stand with this additional information?

What is the brand and model of tire that's on there now? If we have treadwith and section measurements on this tire you can use this information to check clearance on a taller size.

The tires on there now are
KUMHO
ECSTA Supra
225/50R16

alternatively I could add these:

Specs on this tire are:

Section Width........ 9.2
Tread Width.......... 8.0
Overall Diameter..... 24.9

The tires that would be close would be:

205/60-16 25.6
215/60-16 26.2
225/55-16 25.7

unfortunately there is not a tire in this size range would help give you a "rally" look unless you were going to go with a snow tire that would wear very quickly if used all year round.
