k1500 5.7 4x4 issue

Ok so today i was driving to work, the power tappered off and the truck started to sputter. When i give it gas it fell on it's face, and had no power. Then the truck turned off on the side of the road and wouldn't start back up. When ui try to start it i don't hear the fuel pump prime anymore at this point. Then about twenty minutes later i try to start it and it starts but can only idle. I put it in drive and it dies, or if i give it gas it sputters. Any ideas on what it can be? My first thought is the fuel pump, but i don't wanna just throw time and money at this truck.
