2016 Mazda MX5 Roadster

It's now published in the June issue of Scale Auto, so I can share here.

What can I say? The engineering & all facets of this kit are excellent. While arguably it would have been nice for full-detail and an uptop, what they have included is all extremely well produced. I had zero assembly issues. I patterned this after a European-spec LHD MX5 with the 1.5 engine. The 16" wheels sort of forced my hand, in the US we only get the 2.0 engine and 16" wheels with the lowest Sport trim.

I used Aizu micron masking tape for masking around trim, and doing the seat "piping". Paint the seat the color of piping (in this case red), then mask it, spray the primary seat color, remove mask, and voila.

Looking forward to building one of these with the Plamoz Club and Global Cup upgrades coming soon.

Inspiration photo. I mixed TS lacquers to get close to Mazda Blue Reflex.

Thanks!

It's just a review model, one page...no time to describe the figure detailing.

That said, the parts breakdown makes it very easy to paint. The only masking (and it really wasn't necessary) was done to paint the arms after the blouse/torso was painted. The parts all fit amazingly well, so it's hard to tell that the legs are separate, the skirt is separate, the torso is one piece, the head is separate, and the hair is separate. So just pick your colors and use some dry brushing and pastels to tone down the skin and hair. The flesh color I bought at a craft store for about $1.00

Brilliant ND model; the colour match looks pretty spot-on. Just spent the day timing for ~45 MX-5s slipping and sliding around a skidpan Motorkhana day, so you have just given me even more inspiration to get my ND kits off the shelf and started!
