Random thought

How many variations of gear-knob are used on the F1, I think I have seen 4 but it may just have been the angle of the photograph?
Also does anyone know who actually made the various knobs as non of them look proprietary items which is not surprising in the least after all it's one area where the driver makes frequent physical interaction with his car..

Re: Random thought

I know this guy who says he is an expert when it comes to knobs. I will see if he is willing to comment.

Re: Random thought

I assume you are also including variations in the GTRs? Or just road cars? I know early ideas for the shift knob were to use some type of wood, but i believe it was too scarce so they went with the black knobs we see today...let me see if I can find my source about that tid-bit.

Re: Random thought

As it happens I was browsing the website of a Toronto collector/shop just earlier. They happen to have one for sale although they don't list a price. I live in the area, but doubt I could ever justify the price they're likely to ask for it. They have a few other bits if you browse the 'race car parts' section.

Re: Random thought

Yes I know about this item and the others he has for sale but you rightly say pricing is as exotic as the items.

Here are the Different ones I could find throughout my photo collection...obviously most had the standard glossy black urethane looking one, but there are some notable exceptions.

Re: Random thought

Now I see pics of the white with red interior one. Has that car been fixed again after it's crash?
