Re: Windstar 98 tranny problem
I would start by cheeking for codes on the transmission. You may want to invest in a
ELM 327 code reader for android device or laptop and download the FORSCAN software (free) and see if there are any tranny codes. |

Re: Windstar 98 tranny problem
My 95 Windstar had a similar issue, when I would want to pass someone it would drop all the way to first gear and the rpm's would almost tap out and come back to normal, frustrating. so the I had rebuilt the Transmission after it died. Took me a couple of months got it back on the road with better performance, even got rid of the high rpm's. First rebuilt transmission for me.
Two things for me, the transmission was rebuilt by AAmco from previous owner and I think the Bonded Valve Body Plate or Pump Separator plate to valve body, can't remember, was the wrong part, the one that I replaced was for a sable. When I compared the two plates, the only difference was two holes in the same location, but were opposite corners. |
