Mazda MX-5s - completed thread

Hi All,

I have an ongoing wip thread detailing the build of various Mazda MX-5 kits; that thread can be found here: wip thread.

I have finally managed to take some photos of the first three builds from the wip thread; and NA, NB and NC all painted Tamiya bright red. I also have some previous MX-5 builds that I have included in some of the photos below.

The intention is to keep updating this "completed" thread as more builds are finished and photographed.

Hope you enjoy,
Grant.

The first build is Tamiya's NA kit. An excellent kit, if not overly detailed. It is a simple build, though mine had a very warped windscreen surrounded that caused headaches.

Some photos here with an older yellow NA that is aping the "Malibu" special edition of the 1:1 car.

Second kit is one of Aoshima's variants of the NB; strictly this is the NB8A. Again the kit is easy to put together, but low on detail. Ride height will need adjusting on future builds.

A couple of older NB builds, one of which is an homage to our 1:1 Titanium NB8C.

The third build detailed in the initial wip thread was one of Fujimi's NC kits. Fujimi make a standard first series NC as well as a Mazdaspeed version. The latter kit comes with a subtly body kit and different wheels. The kit is very nicely detailed with top engine detail, but as described in the wip the suspensions and rear chassis clearance around the body can be real issues.

Finally for today a few photos of an older build; Aoshima's Garage Vary NB. New photos as I am experimenting with Scale Motorsports' pit garage diorama. Quite like the effect actually.

Thanks! I have a couple (okay 3) of the ND kits at home ready to go. Thinking of doing one bright red like the NA, NB and NC above to complete the set, even though Mazda don't do an ND in that colour. Having seen, and been in, a lot more of the NDs now I am more excited to build one - the 2.0L ND is actually quite a quick little car, certainly up there with the turbo NBs.
