Cool Covering Panoramic sunroof?

Hey guys I was just wonder what my options were for replacing my sunroof.
I've gave it some thought and I figure it will be cheaper and, less work to just cover it up and replace the headliner, However I'm unable to figure the best PERMANENT solution. Help??

Permanent solutions are not going to be cheap or easy. Any "easy" solution is going to be ugly.

I don't need it to look "pretty" I'm going to vinyl wrap the roof, I just need it covered.

Re: Covering Panoramic sunroof?

The only way it will be properly covered is having a new metal panel welded on. The panel will have to be shaped, and welded in slowly to avoid warping. Neither will be cheap.

Your best, and probably cheapest bet is to install an aftermarket sunroof in its place.

How much do you think it would cost to get, it wielded without it being shaped? I called a few body shops about replacements and they all wanted $2,000+ to replace it.

Re: Covering Panoramic sunroof?

The guy I had bought the car from rolled it and he had ghetto rigged it so there were no leaks (there were still leaks btw >_> i had to fix it), and it's just so badly "repaired" that it would take a lot of body work to restore it back to being able to replace the sunroof, not to mention the fact that I would have to buy a new sunroof, and new headliner because he had cut the plastic/vinyl retractable material that covered the sunroof.

Yes, in that case, it would be very costly, to replace the unit.......

Re: Covering Panoramic sunroof?

Buying a car that was rolled was your first mistake.

Thinking it could be fixed cheap was another.

I do know people who have fixed rolled vehicles or vehicles with roof damage and it was neither cheap nor easy. The car being rolled opens a whole new can of worms because there could be several other things that could be tweaked throwing everything else out of whack.

I'll keep you guys posted on what I decide to do. I'll most likely do it on Friday/Saturday depending on the weather. I'll post pics as well just in case, it might help someone else out.

Re: Covering Panoramic sunroof?

Hey, so I just finished doing some light sanding around the roof, because I knew I wasn't going to get done before it started to rain. But anyways did some proper sanding where I laid the bondo, it seems to hold on to the glass for now (40 grit sandpaper ftw). Pics
