Cruise Control set switch

Cruise on/off works. Light on the dash. Some days pressing the "set" switch engages immediately. Other days, press it 20 times, nothing. Guessing switch contacts could use some cleaning/replacing. Service manual doesn't address how to pull the switch on the steering wheel...Tips?

Re: Cruise Control set switch

What year is your truck, 2003?

Manual or automatic trans.

The picture I'm looking at of a 2003 steering wheel shows screws on the back side of the steering wheel that hold the switches in place.

Thanks Chris. Just one screw. But switch doesn't look cleanable. Looks like junk yard time.

Re: Cruise Control set switch

It would be nice if you could get someone to hold the steering wheel while you jumper those wires on a test run to be sure it's the switch.

Re: Cruise Control set switch

Well, been awhile since posting. Only 3 wires run into the switch that actually has 2 switches in it. Also found out this part was only put on 2003-2004 and discontinued. No one in US has it. Still looking for used. Part number is 56045779aa. Google search shows it but all places don't have it in stock.
