Rear window latch won't lock

My vehicle does not lock the rear window glass on the lift gate. It just racks my brain -- any ideas? All other locks work fine. The rear lift gate glass just slams and nothing.

Sounds like the lock mechanism is stuck in the open position. I think I'd try cleaning and lubing.

Thanks. Can it be that I pushed it back too far while trying to close the window with the latch stuck in the closed position? I lubed it pretty good with no effect. The latch does not move at all with use of the key etc. Everything else works fine.
