2001 ZX2 check engine light is on

Codes came up as PO171 and P1383 another place said it was a vacum leak but could not find a leak. Any ideas?

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0171

P1383 is Ford specific apparently and appears to be a major issue.

P1383/P0012 Variable Cam Timing over-retarded (Bank 1)

Neither are a simple "vacuum leak"

The engine is just a 4 cylinder so there is no Left bank?

Re: 2001 ZX2 check engine light is on

Read the link.

P0 codes are generic to all OBD cars, so Bank 1 on a 4 inline engine is simply the only bank it has.

I don't know how much traffic this particular sub-forum gets, but a quick google of P1383 brings up numerous topics all over the internet and the majority seem to be related to Ford products.
