2016 Explorer XLT 4WD light Clunk Sound Problem
I purchased a brand 2016 explorer brand 2016 explorer
and since new it has a light clunk sound and you feel a click on http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=U...l&linkCode=ur2 when accelerating in Drive out of Park. Brought it to the dealership and they don't know what the issue is. Any Ideas?

Steps to Recreate:

1) From Park put the vehicle in Drive
2) Start accelerating in forward motion and I hear a clunk/click sound and feel it in the gas pedal.

The problem does not occur in that driving session unless you put the vehicle in park again and then back to Drive. Just to clarify its when you start moving you feel the clunk.

Any Ideas or does anyone else have this problem?

Since it sounds like you can get this to repeat rather consistently, I'd recommend you make sure your dealership has your visit on file, then ask them if they think anything is possibly being damaged. If their answer is "No," then ask them to schedule a meeting for your Explorer with the field service engineer the next time he or she is in the area.

I had to do that one time with a Lincoln I had and I was VERY impressed with the level of knowledge the FSE had.

Than you for the reply. I received a reply from another forum and the suspected diagnosis is that this is the ABS Self Test.
