Overall which one of these would be best to go with In Yer Opinion ? Im already getting the GSR sometime before December. But i just want to know how my car will fend against a B16. And i plan to get a Greddy Turbo Charger Kit too, pushin it at about 240 HP to the wheels.. But lets not include that.
B18c1 (GSR) --- 170 HP @ 7600 RPM --- 128lbs-ft @ 6200 RPM B16------------ 160 HP @ 7600 RPM --- 111lbs-ft @ 7000 RPM I know its plain and simple right there for the most part. But In the 1/4 wise and which has better pickup/acceleration ?? "Tings of dat' sort"

yea, the price is the only thing, unless you meet half way and get the B16 out of the DA6 which is 170HP but 111lb of tourqe...... and its OBD1 and comes with a cable tranny.... where the b18c1 can be both obd1 and obd2, but all have hydro trannies, so you would have to sell the tranny and buy a cable one..........

Well for all motor i would choose the gsr motor cause of the torque. Yeh its good to turbo charge it also. SInce your goin turbo just get the b16. You'll gain alot of torque with it. Why go greddy? Just get a drag gen 3 or 4 kit.

i would do the complete opposite...if i were to go all motor i would go b16 turbo b18c, the b18 would probably be best in both of these options with a big pocket, but b16 would be better all motor for the extra money spent on a b18 you could gain that power and some to outperform the b18

When dealing with a 4th gen Civic, or CRX, there shouldnt even be a debate on a B18C1 or B16A. Get the B16A. If you get the B18C1 thats 10HP & 18 Torque increase for $2000(B16 $1500/GSR $3500) more, plus a even more complicated install. And if you want to keep cable trans with a B18C1, all of your choices suck.
1 B16A cable tranny- older than GSR motor, synchros may be gone. The Integra B16A tranny have long gears. 2 B18A cable tranny- looooong gears. 3 Put B18C gears in cable tran housing- you need BOTH tranny's I wont even count the 92-93 GSR tranny, 3000 2G GSR's per year = 6000 DA GSR's, and 6000 tranny's, good luck finding one, best cable tranny Honda has.

I wouldn't get the b16 all motor. Why? Cuz its harder to achieve the 12 sec range with b16. Hell its hard to get 200 atw hp with a b16. THats why i went with a different set up. |

What are you talkin about? IF hes gonna go turbo yeh shorter geared tranny would suck. But if you're talkin about all motor set up and sayin b16 trans suck then i dont agree with you. WHo cares if its old? Get it rebuild. |

with that extra money you dont spend on the gsr you could get i/h/e throw some cams in there and possibly a vtec controller and spank the hell out of the same exact car with a gsr in it

ARe you talkin about gsr powered rex vs b16 rex? Yeh well that might be true but just think about the gsr having the same set up that u just mentioned. If you have the funds i'd just go 1.8. Dont get me wrong i love my b16 but i want more. In his case i would get the b16 if hes goin turbo cause its cheaper and he can hit 12s no problem with a proper set up and tuning. |

stock gsr vs. stock b16, there is no comparison... i have personally driven two crx's with each swap, both 89 si's and both equally stripped...
gsr all over the b16 all day. the gs-r-ex was obd1 while the b16 rex was obd0. other than i/h/e, no other mods were done to either car... i went b16 b/c its cheaper to start out with and because thats what i always wanted so now i have it. i dont regret it at all ![]() but in the end, it will come down to what YOU want to get. Good luck either way! julian

B18, easy choice. It IS a better motor as it produces more power - in our VTiR 'tegs (GSR equivilent), they pump out about 180bhp. Who cares about torque (I refuse to rant about it again in case Lisa is watching)?
