Power Steering Leak
About 6 years ago, my girlfriend at the time (now wife) and her dad bought a 2005 Pontiac Grand AM. The friend they bought it from told them there was a small leak somewhere in the power steering system. They had it checked out by another friend who is a mechanic. He said it is probably a rack and pinion issue that is expensive to replace and that since it is just a small leak, it would be cheaper and easier to just add more power steering fluid every so often when it's needed.
Well about a year ago we had to get it replaced so that it would pass inspection. But now it still leaks power steering fluid just as bad if not worse than before. Any ideas as to what is leaking? My first thought was a cracked hose, but I figured it would be pouring out if that was the case. Should I change the pump or is there anywhere else I should look first? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Power Steering Leak
What you have to do is find the leak........how much fluid are you adding, and how often?
You don't see any fluid leaking anywhere? |

Re: Power Steering Leak
I add more fluid about every 10-14 days. I use a full bottle about every 3 months. So that's roughly 2.5 ounces every 2 weeks.
