VW Scirocco mk1

After completing the Ducati. It's time to start a new project.

As a big VW fan, I had collect a few rare VW kits. One of them is the AMT VW Scirocco mk1. I have two of them, so I thought building one should be cool.

The original wheels are nothing. It also contains a wheelfenderset which won't be used. I found a nice set of BBS look a likes from Aoshima with some great stretchtyres.

I'm not sure about the color yet, but I think I'll go for Metallic Green with golden wheels.

Re: VW Scirocco mk1

Interesting to see your progress. I have the old molded-in-red kit as well, and just got the brand-new release of it from AMT/Round2, identical kit now molded in silver with less brittle plastic. The stock and racing wheels and tires are so tiny I think they're made for the original Minis...

Re: VW Scirocco mk1

It's been busy at home since the little kid takes a lot of time I also did a commissioned build for a friend, which also took a lot of time. But now I'm back with a new update.

First I decided to keep the hood shut. The enginebay and engine detail are very dissapointing.... With the hood shut I can also lower it much easier.

After this and a lot of putty I primered the body.

And followed by a few layers of Spirited Green from Mazda.

And I started on the BMF work. Still a lot to do....

I'm surprised you didn't pick up one of these for the engine bay.

It's too big for the 1/25 Scirocco....

It's been a while, but I'm back with an update.

First I clearcoated the body after adding the BMF. I also handpainted the black windowtrims. I also added a new sidemirror from ScaleProduction and I added new headlight lenses also from SP.

The chassis was kept very simple so I could mount the wheels the easy way. Just a rod with glued on wheels.

The interior was also very simple. I replaced the seats with Porsche seats.

Meanwhile it's finished, so I will upload the final pics a.s.a.p!

Re: VW Scirocco mk1

Is the clearly scale 1.8 off of the esci golf 1/24? The engine would be a nice touch with the scirocco, either way beautiful progress.

The magazines in the front passenger seat are a nice touch.
