1/24 Peugeot 205 T16 - Corse '85 - #14 B.Darniche / Team Gauloises

Really, a blue one?
Correct, this one was a genuine race-bred Gr.B 205 T16 Evo1 that was privately entered in the 1985 Corsica Rallye by B. Darniche and Team Gauloises.
To me, one of the most beautiful ever rallye cars. Sadly, it did not finish due to a mechanical failure.

Studio27 do the decals, otherwise it's Tamiya's well known kit again:

I love this livery too.
On the first picture, it's funny to see a curious Timo Salonen on the left approaching Darniche's car. Maybe it was the 1st time he had seen a 205 T16 that was not white

That's interesting, I did not recognize him.

I tried that last shot again, this time with a bit more effort, as well as some parts from the Tamiya rallye mechanics set and my Corse '84 build in the background:

I got then carried away a bit and you can see some more results here.

Nice project. GpB days were fantastic days of rallying. Dangerous but very exciting. Miss it badly.
ps Timo was probably blagging a fag!

Re: 1/24 Peugeot 205 T16 - Corse '85 - #14 B.Darniche / Team Gauloises

The shell will be blue on this Team Gauloises car (I opted for TS-15 "Blue") , while the chassis underneath will be white.

So I cut some sections that will be white from the shell and glued them to the chassis.
Therefore I will be able to completely spray-paint the shell and the chassis in their respective colours.

There are only very few drawbacks on Tamiya's 205 T16, but the shape of the rear quarter windows is one:
The lower part of the transparent plastic is meant to be normally painted in white to resemble the shell. Anyway, mine will be blue.

So I decided to cut off the lower part and integrate it into the shell. Some putty will hopefully do the rest.
After painting the shell in blue, I will glue the window back in place.

Thank you all. There are definitely more 205s to come.
The next one will probably be an Evo 2 Conversion, but let's finish this one and the Monte '85 one first.

Seperating that section near the B-pillars and integrating it into the chassis had worked fairly well so far.

Next, I cut the front brake cooling vents from the body and integrated them into chasis as well (I should've done this at first)...

This is what it should look like, later on:
