Broken studs

I own a 98 accord with 4 lug hubs. Alot of studs broke on this car from someone stripping them out. I found a way to replace them without buying a hub. Now this is not my responsibility for you to do. This is a trick I did. But that said. I know hubs fine. OK here we go. I took a stud the a bench grinder. Made a flat on the back of the stud. Yes I took less than a quarter off the back. So relax. Made it even with the stud. Do not hit the knurled portion of the stud. After I got the flat. I put a small angle on the back. When I went to install the stud I was at the 3 o'clock position. A small tap and it's in. Threads are in great condition not damaged that way. Now you just pull it in with washers and if you have a good old stud pull it threw. Watch how far your going. Do not put anti seize on them. Do a 2 pull setup. Go half way. Pull stud back off cleaning the threads out of the stud and lug. Finish it repeat. Now you have that missing stud back on. Some pepole will not care for it. Since I have done this on several cars I have found even hitting a curb wheel studs still ok. I don't take responsibility for how you do it I am stating how I on this car replaced the stud. I never could understand why it was that Honda stuck with this design for so long.

Have read that 06 + Civics can now be removed..... but cannot confirm though.

My idea behind it. If I could figure out how to post a pic I would. The way I explained it above. U can go right thru and around the hub bearing and everyone wants to replace. I do know this. Because I have over 15k on them and no issues taking them out. Now u have little choice to remove the old stud if it's long. U are forced to pop it loose and cut the back of the stud out. How I did them is used a straight angle grinder in used a small angle taking about 3 / 4 of the stud cut spin it around and it will pop out with little trouble. Collapses on itself in and out. Hope this helps someone.

In my case I filed one side of the new stud and I also flattened a spot on the hub. I put a new stud in a freezer for a few hours as well.

Ok. What I did is made a flat extremely close to the knurled portion. Then put a 45 on the back side half way to stud bottom. I never touched the spindle. It had the 45 collapse the flat to a point took nothing to tap it thru. I will try flicker later today.
