Whoa, first post here...
I sourced some 1/24 kits of the Peugeot 205 T16 in varying condition, mainly Tamiya, so these are what I will be primarily working on for the next months - or even longer. ![]() ![]() My first build here will be the 1984 Tour de Corse #4 car, piloted by Vatanen / Harryman. This, together with it's #12 sister car, was Peugeot's very first appearance in Group B rallying. Peugeot had entered the cars mainly for testing purposes, but they actually obliterated the competition from the very beginning. Towards the end of the rally, Vatanen crashed and Lancia took the win, but it had become clear what to expect from Peugeot in the remaining 1984 as well as the 1985 season. The Tamiya 1/24 kit includes decals for the 1985 Monte Carlo and Acropolis versions, so I'll have to improvise. There are also many other, more or less obvious differences.

Re: 1/24 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 - Corse '84
Very envious of your Heller kitset. I have a couple of Tamiya editions and will build one OOB, and then want to use some of the aero on my other to make a gravel Evo II edition.
Look forward to your progress!

Sadly, the Heller kit is of quite poor quality when directly compared to the Tamiya ones. But my plans are similar, I plan to use some parts, as well as the decals, to build a '86 Corse Evo 2. I hope the Heller decals are OK.
I also have some plans for the remaining Heller parts after that. But first things first, we have to build this Tamiya kit here

Re: 1/24 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 - Corse '84
As I said, many parts differ on this early '84 model.
The lower part of the front valance had to be changed. ![]() As you can see on this picture, I also decided to cut/file open the rear ventilation grille on the hatch - the sections between the middle bars are normally closed on the Tamiya kits. On Corsica, Peugeot used asphalt wheels with a sort of deep-dish rims rather than the gravel/snow rims that come with the tamiya kit. I could have used the Heller wheels as they look quite right, but those are very narrow and come with ugly tyres. So modified the Tamiya wheels and gave them a wider dish, when compared to the image above. I made the rear ones even a bit wider than the front ones: ![]() Also, Vatanen's '84 Car was the only one that I'm aware of that had the underbody painted in yellow instead of blue: ![]() Naturally, I had to make the decals that did not come with the kit. I printed them with an inkjet on decal paper, so the results won't be very good, but hopefully OK for this first project.

Engine compartment and interior - keeping it simple and OOB here.
The early cars like this had all-black Recaro seats instead of the later blue/yellow Sparco ones. As far as I know, they also did not yet have the pilots' names written on them. ![]()

Re: 1/24 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 - Corse '84
if you need some images about this model you can have a look at this link . It is your same model made by an italian modeller amazingly skilled (I must say one of the most skilled I´ve ever seen around, personally know him). His care of detail is uncommon, and also just see the pics is a real pleasure.
have a look here: http://www.modellismo.net/forum/stat...e2-1-24-a.html

Re: 1/24 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 - Corse '84
You are right, this is absolutely incredible and a pleasure just to watch the pictures (as I don't speak italian).
It looks so clean and simple, while of course it is not - just unbelievable. I could never do this, and I have to admit that I am also not that ambitious. But I have bookmarked that thread and will have a close look again as soon as I start my own (much simpler) Evo2 conversion. |

Moving fast forward, here we already have the car with all the parts and decals on.
![]() I might touch up some of the painting and add an antenna later, but other than that, I'm rather satisfied. Completed thread here. Last edited by koooba; 12-12-2015 at 05:04 AM. |
