1998 key problems
I have a 1998 grand prix the key left in the ignition buzzer keeps going off after I have taken the key out of the ignition and open the door to get out. Everything with the ignition works fine except for it telling me I have left the key in the ignition when I haven’t. What kind of problem could I have and how it fix.

Re: 1998 key problems
You have to take the steering column apart...without the right tools and expertise, should let the pro's do it...
There are plenty of YouTube videos out there, to give you an idea of what you need for tools and the procedure...... |

Re: 1998 key problems
If you have taken out the lock cylinder, you have taken out the key buzzer contact, just before removing the lock cylinder, you remove a torx screw....before removing that, you remove the key buzzer contacts.....little piece of white plastic with two metal clips sticking out of it....

Re: 1998 key problems
![]() This is what I have replaced I can’t find the little piece of white plastic with two metal clips sticking out of it the only wires that are around this is a green wire and a grown wire that go to a little push button thing on top of housing that holds the tumbler and a black wire and white wire that goes to what I think is the shift interlock system |
