LCD screens upfront illegal?

I was wondering if LCD screens were illegal? I know they make the ones that flip up out of the players in the dash, when turned on say that they are illegal to have on while the car is in motion. Is only illegal if your playing them while driving or is it illegal to have them anywhere except for the head rest in the seats? I wanted to put one in my LX when I get it and I want to have it on while I'm cruising too but I DON'T want a ticket for it. PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW!!!

As far as I know it's only illegal if it's on while you're driving.

if you had your stereo in the normal place and it flipped out it wouldnt be higher than the window, so no cop would be able to see it. no cop will say anything about it anyway so dont sweat it.

I just heard that cops had problems with this. My friend's cousin got pulled over for speeding and in the mist of getting the ticket the cop mentioned seeing flashing lites coming from the interior of the car and ask to see where it was coming from. His cousin said it was his in dash flip up dvd player. The cop then said you know these are illegal don't you, Luke's cousin said,"no" and then the cop told him to turn it on and the first thing the screen said was, "WARNING: It is illegal to oppurate this device while in motion". Go figure!
