Scrap Container Haul

The container is supposed to be filled to the brim with scrap tires but I did not have sufficient to achieve this. So ill have to get my hands on some tires that no one has a need for. A little more toning the weathering on the container, behind the cab, and minute detailing and it is done.

Re: Scrap Container Haul

Nice work. Love the weathering and distress/broken welds on the can. The weather looks great, but one thing, the whole truck is dirty and worn, but the tire treads on perfectly clean. They need some dirt/rocks in them to blend into the rest of the build.

As for the scrap tire issue, go to your local dollar store or craft store and get some floral foam and cut it to size of the can and drop it in the bottom, then put your tires on top to raise the volume.

Outstanding job, Charles! Your eye for weathering in impeccable. Subtle and not-so-subtle touches here and there just blend into a very believable well-used workhorse.

Re: Scrap Container Haul

Very cool, nicely weathered.

That seems like a huge volume to fill with 1/24 tires. I would consider casting a bunch out of resin. (Of course with all that space to play with, I would also consider something a bit more absurd. Like maybe fill it with cow dung- a full "shit load". Or a group of children playing jump rope. Or Rodin's The Thinker....)

Where did the Michelin man come from?

Thanks for the tips. Actually. Its not much volume left. I had a box load but it just wasn't enough. Or like I have said, I can just place a piece of foam at the base to raise the tires. But I wanted it to be filled with tires so when people look into the container will will see, they are tires in there as they can see all the way down to the bottom.

Re: Scrap Container Haul

Love the weathering. With the general air of not being looked after, I would suggest the tires would be bald or near to it. Maybe use filler on the tread to get the effect with just the impression of the tread left.

I am also guessing you are displaying it on the block of wood to soak up the oil leaks.
