Scan tool

I'd like to pick up a cheap scan tool for my 01 Montana. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks

Re: Scan tool

Scan tool or code reader?

Just read "P" codes, or C, B, and U codes?

How much do you want to spend?

Re: Scan tool

I forgot to mention, there is a great product out there, called the ELM 327...there are two versions....one is Bluetooth, that you can use on Android devices, like your smartphone or tablet....the other one is Wi-Fi, for IOS systems, like your Iphone/Ipad....

These devices are around 20 bucks, and all you have to do is download the Torque APP......there are two versions....one is free(Lite), the other is the Pro version, and has more features, and has updates....and it only costs $4.95.....

So for 25 bucks, you can turn your smart phone or tablet or even your laptop(must have Bluetooth built in), into a scan tool......

There are many videos on Youtube about this product....just type ELM327 and search, and watch the videos...like I said, with this little adapter, either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and with the Torque APP, you will be amazed at all the info you can see in the videos, to help in diagnosis of your car.......wish I had this years ago instead of paying big bucks on scan tools....

Compare that to $3000 for a Tech II scan tool(of course this little baby can't do what the GM scan tool does), but all the info you get is more than the info you would get from hand held scan tools in the 100-200 dollar range...

Re: Scan tool

I guess a scan tool - I wasn't specific
Not looking for anything fancy - just something to help diagnose a few minor issues. It wouldn't hurt if it worked on the 08 Trailblazer also -

Thanks for reply's !! I'll do some checking.
