Exclamation Civic Start Out Plan Alpha

Ok, I hope the title is apealing, well anyways say I started it out with a 92-03 Honda Civic (thats what i am looking at right now), and I go to school where every other car in the parking lot is a Mustang (of all type and years) and usually driven by cocky guys or arrogant girls who love to race each other and really make fools out of the rest. Now I dont know to much, but I want to bring them back down to earth. Soo what would i do to a civic to beat them style wise and race wise? Yet with a decent highschoolers budget and a fairly well off father?

i actually i got the same motive.. here in australia v6's are very common and like to tail a stock 1.6L civic.. well i had the same query if u want to look thru this post it mite be helpful thru engine wise.. but i suggest you buy a civic with a DOHC VTEC engine because you can always take them up to the next level.. something that im trying to achieve with my 2000 Civic Coupe DOHC VTEC..

b16a or b18b that thing, get an intake, header, exhaust and you'll be doin just fine against those puny five-ohs style-wise? get some lighting (corners, headlights, tails), a set of lightweight wheels (make sure they're lightweight (15lbs or less I'd say)) and get that thing dropped with some mid-range KYB shocks and some sort of springs (no clue on what's good there).

After that, you're good to go... 'side perhaps car stereo (alpine deck, alpine type s speakers? prolly the cheapest way to go for really nice quality)

GREAT!!! but how do headlights, taillights, corner lights, and stereo's help civics to beat RUStangs??? get a 92 cx hatch, swap an h22. get some true coilovers ( tein ), gut that pig, put it on some rota's, an start the spanking.

I was touching his 'beat them style-wise' stipulation with the body stuff. He probably won't want an h22 as a daily driver unless its a strait shot to class with no turns

This stuff will probably end up costing out more than you'd like not sure about the swap's price (that's the big one) but intake header exhaust will prolly dock you $1000 (you can install it yourself easy, its a fun project for friends to get together and do, that's how I learned about cars in highschool). Lenses and all will be prolly $200 or so if you shop right (shop s-mart!). Shocks and springs will be like $500, mebbe less if you go with a cheaper set up then I suggested. and wheels are going to be ugly (I don't know prices on wheels so somebody help me out there too)

Subtotal: $1700 + wheels + tires + swap
I say about $4000/$4500 for that set up?

If that's too much, I suggest sticking with your stock wheels or swapping an F22 in... its a really cheap swap with good torque, but its not in the same league as a b-series engine (good for cheap turbo tho
)

Nah, once you get in there its easy; I have never taken an auto tech course in my life, and didn't know jack about cars (like I couldn't name what model cars were going down the street) up through jr yr of highschool. It'll save you hundreds if you at least take a stab at it.

Yeah, it is a lot of money... but that set up will get you doing low 13s (2003 5.0 Mustang GT does a 15.1, and even a 2003 cobra is within reach at a 12.9, according to www.car-stats.com). So chances are you'll be blowin all of them away unless some snob's dad bough 'em a cobra, but how embarassing would it be for them to have a civic staying neck and neck with them ya know :

And this is why god invented sleepers kids. Not fixing your fender rust on your 5th gen civic and keeping your 12" diameter 4" deep dent complete with paint scraped off of sisters car b.c she hit you just makes the win all the more gratifying

Love the Army of Darkness quote =)

And ditto to the sleeper thing. That way you can get outta the car at the end of the run, stare at them for a second with a bewildered face, and say... gosh! what happened??

ROFL that's a new dimension to sleepers I haven't used.
I _LOVE_ it!
