I have owned a BMW 3 series for a few years now and until recently, I have been completely unaware that since it's a European car, using European motor oil is much more beneficial for the engine! I stumbled across this blog on a European Auto Care Service website in Las Vegas which explained it all...What do you guys think?

Re: Motor Oil for BMW
What a bunch of horse s**t.
Your BMW takes a certain grade of oil, not a certain Contientent Manufactured Oil viscosity. Not to mention the cost of importing that oil to the states. You thought you were paying a high price for Corona beer, wait until you see the price tag for that oil. Most BMWs recommend Castrol oil, and it's usually 5W-20 or 0W-20. Some of the newer ones REQUIRE 0w-10. And yes, it's expensive. But that's the price for German engineering. Check the oil cap on your BMW and see what it says. Use that weight oil provided by a reputable maker...Mobile 1, Pennzoil, Castrol...ect. |

Re: Motor Oil for BMW
Whoever wrote that probably has a shelf of specialty oil that won't sell, so he's made a desperate attempt to scare rich dummies into buying it. Oh, and that ass-kissing little review at the bottom, he probably wrote himself or paid somebody to post.
Just use quality oil and you'll be fine.
