Replacing tail light in 2000 LeSabre

Hi everyone. A car slammed into my rear corner on the passenger side and cracked the red plastic covering of the tail light. The clear white covering underneath wasn't damaged, but my brake light and blinker light doesn't work. When I hit my lock button on my remote the light still flashes like usual.

I'm thinking maybe some of the wires were disconnected upon impact. I found a video on youtube on how to replace the light, so I was just going to check it out and see if anything was disconnected.

I took off the two plastic screws and pulled away the plastic covering, but underneath I noticed a greyish "putty" all around the panel. I uncovered the other side and that had the putty stuff on it also. Am I still going to be able to remove that panel myself? I bought this car from a dealership, so I can't see why they would permanently seal that panel knowing that eventually the bulbs would have to be replaced.

I appreciate any help you all could give me. Thanks!

You are not removing the panel. Remove the 3 nuts and pull the entire taillight away from the car. You'll see the bulb socket that just twists to expose the bulb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=806QkI8fC9c

Thank you for your reply. I had forgotten that in the video I watched they took the light out from the outside. I'm only 41, that's too young to be having a senior moment, right?
