Blazer won't start after sitting for a year
After a family member passed away, his 1985 S10 Blazer sat for about a year while his heirs figured out what to do with it. It was kept well-maintained, and it started after his death.
Now, after charging the battery, I can get it to start with starting fluid, but as soon as it uses up the starting fluid, it cuts off. What's the most likely cause? I'm thinking the fuel filter might have clogged with ethanol gas, like what happens with lawn mowers. What steps would you go through to restore fuel flow? |

Sitting for a year isn't really that long. Since it starts with starting fluid, fuel delivery issue. Is your fuel pump running?

Re: Blazer won't start after sitting for a year
I think the fuel pump is working since I hear something turning on in the back. We have the full service manual for this car somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it yet.
It runs perfectly smoothly with the starter fluid. |
