Engine spun rod bearing

I spun a rod bearing in a 3800 in a 96 park avenue and just had a new engine dropped in last week. I asked the mechanic what happened and he asked if it had gotten hot because the upper intake plenum had melted and destroyed the map sensor along with the spun bearing. What would have caused this? I had a egr code said it had a stuck pental at the time the engine went out. I had him install a new egr also.Would the egr have caused the engine to overheat causing this issue or should I be concerned about a plugged catalytic converter or muffler? The Buick runs fine now with the new engine. There is no hesitation at all like i thought I would experience if the exhaust was plugged.By the way the old engine had 147,000 miles on it.

Re: Engine spun rod bearing

I wouldn't worry to much about a plugged catalytic converter or muffler. You would know right away as if either of these were plugged up, you car would run like crap and if it did run, you would be overcome by exhaust fumes exiting further up along to car.
