manual brake bleed,96 park avenue
I am going to be replacing all brake lines including the ones between the master cylinder and ABS unit. Can I do a manual bleed without using a scan tool?

Re: manual brake bleed,96 park avenue
Yes, but it will be a little more involved....do one line at a time.....and then do a manual bleed for that one line.....do this after each line has been replaced, never letting the reservoir get too low...
Then you will have to do a road test and make several abs stops, by stopping with one side of vehicle on dry pavement and the other in dirt or grass....then do the same for the other side....DO THIS IN A SAFE AREA! Then you will have to do a final bleed, starting at the M/C first.....then RR, LR, RF, and LF.... If pedal still feels mushy, road test several ABS stops again, and do the final bleed again.... |

![]() Yes, once the lines are replaced and MC is bench bled, bleed each of the two lines feeding the ABS modulator, then bleed the individual calipers and wheel cylinders normally. As Tech advised, keep the reservoir full, and remember to reconnect the return line solenoid electrical connector so the air will purge more easily from the individual wheel cylinder solenoids. Be very careful to replace the lines for each wheel in the same places they were removed, since they are modulated on a wheel-by-wheel basis by the control:

Re: manual brake bleed,96 park avenue
Should I remove the abs unit to replace the lines?
How do I return abs unit to home position if needed during the process? |
