ac blower and resitor issues

Hi i know this has problem has been on here before so sorry ahead of time. I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix gt. I read some where that some of these have the resitor and blower motor close together and that the molding or rubber that runs at the bottom of the windshield after time will leak water into the blower motor and resistor and cause a short. What is the part of the molding or black rubber that i need to re glue so that it stops leaking? is it the piece that is where the cabin air filter is or is it the think black molding that goes accross the bottom of the entire windshield. I believe this has been the cause of alot of my issues with car shorting out. the other day had to have it towed for the first time in its 11 years and found out it was one of the j fuses arching causing the car not to start.
So any help in this mater would be greatly appreciated. Cant quite afford a new car at the moment so have to keep it going past its already 267,000 miles.

Re: ac blower and resitor issues

I could be wrong but I believe the all the 04+ have the cowl protector that the 97-03 do not.

The piece is under the plastic cowl and sits above the cabin filter. Its just a plastic guard. If you pull off the passenger side of the cowling you will see if there is a guard there and you can see about changing your cabin filter while you are at it if it has not been done before.
