front park lights

Today I noticed I have no DRL or front park lights. The rear is fine and all the turn signals work.Bulbs are good, front park fuse has 12v on both sides.Only bought this truck a few weeks ago and I am pretty sure they worked then.Hand brake cables aren't adjusted good, the pedal goes to the floor and the park brake just barely grabs.I haven't checked the switch on that system yet but I thought the parks would still work just not the drl's.Both side are gone, any thoughts?I also notice that the interior fuse box has an opening for another plug that looks the same as the door wiring plug on the fuse diagram it says body/12 way/brown with body being on top and the rest following under it.Is this supposed to have a plug in there?all the pins are in the fuse box for another plug, wouldn't think they would have the pins sticking out if nothing went in it,would be easy to short on something.

Re: front park lights

If I push the unlock remote button the lights in the front come on for illumination so the drl's maybe working but the parks aren't.I just realized the drl's only come on when in gear and I haven't checked them that way.

yes those DRL only come on with it in gear so I park facing a window to get reflection to observe operation of the lamps. ON the park brake operation ..I am guessing this is a NBS 1999-2001 model. If this is the vehicle most likely you need to replace the park brake shoes and the park brake shoe hold down clips. the new type clips will replace the defective GM designed clips. these factory installed clips allowed the park brake shoes to move when driving causing the shoes/inner drum to wear out. then when you need to use the park brake PEDAL TO FLOOR !!!! gm WAS SUED WITH THIS ISSUE .. I have a 2000 silverado and posted this fix many years before GM admitted they screwed up the design.. GM had recall only on manual tranny vehicles only .. NHTSA made another very bad decision...

Re: front park lights

Mine is 2004 so not sure about the park shoes. As for the park lights I figured them out,it was just the bulbs.I was checking the DRL bulbs for park lights as they have 2 filaments like the parks but then I realized they only had 2 wires to them so no parks on those bulbs.

the park brake cables are not to be adjusted . the shoes are adjusted . the park brake cable pedal is the cable self adjuster. when the pedal goes to the floor the shoes and or also the inner drums are worn. if the inner drum is NOT RUSTED then you need the new type shoe hold down clips. many just gave up on these truck park brakes working. I fixed my 2000 over 10 yrs ago . I figured it out , then the lawsuit that was won against GM on this failure. on the DRL lamps these burn out often , I use the LL bulbs run / last longer.
