Quality concept of Toyota
Toyota cut – like most Japanese automakers – in breakdown statistics in recent years, regularly very well, for example, they are in the ADAC breakdown statistics and customer satisfaction survey usually on the front seats.. In a customer satisfaction survey by the American market research company JD Power and Associates in 2002, 2004 and 2005, Toyota performed very well and dominated the field.
Toyota uses the self-developed Toyota Production System, which consists mainly of the following parts TQM (total quality management), Kanban, Kaizen, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Poka Yoke. This new production concept was developed by Toyota under the leadership of Taiichi Ōno from 1950 and was later acquired or copied by all the main car manufacturers. It now forms an important basis of scientific work, research, and teaching in the context of business administration. In the product development process Toyota uses the method Design Review Based on Failure Mode (DRBFM). The method DRBFM is a development support creativity method and at the same time also a philosophy for discourse-oriented design discovery and evaluation. According to a survey of the Nuremberg market research institute on behalf of the pulse “Süddeutsche Zeitung” held in 2007, the Germans Toyota for the most environmentally friendly automaker. For this purpose, probably the success of the first production Hybrid vehicle Prius has helped. Source: Story of Toyota
