Why are Park Avenue's Less Than Lesabres?
I've been looking for a upgrade for my Lesabre. I keep running into super good deals on Park Avenues.
In my area (NW), it seems like you can get a really nice Park Avenue for a lot less then the Lesabres. I went into the dealer and asked the salesperson, and he didn't know. He commented that the PA sold for a lot more then the Lesabre's new, so he couldn't see why they are cheaper. (looking at private party sales, just went into the dealer to ask question). Does anyone know why the Park Avenues go for so much cheaper then the Lesabre's? Does anyone else in the country find this to be true? Thank you, Chris.

Re: Why are Park Avenue's Less Than Lesabres?
Not in my area.....There is no way, a P/A will sell cheaper than a L/S, if the same year, mileage, and condition......
Basically, they are the same vehicle, as far as powertrain....they have different chassis's.... Now if you have a "loaded" Limited LeSabre, vs a base P/A, then it's a possibility.....but a Custom LeSabre vs a P/A, especially an Ultra, there is no way they would be close in price.... |

Re: Why are Park Avenue's Less Than Lesabres?
They have different chassis? What is different? Other than some standard/optional active suspension and trims, I believe they are identical. I've bolted a PA fender and door onto a LeSabre for a perfect fit.
That said, I cannot understand why any two of them in equal condition and similar mileage would have the LeSabre demanding a higher sale price.

Re: Why are Park Avenue's Less Than Lesabres?
LeSabre/Bonnevilles were "H" cars, P/A's were "C" cars.....
The P/A's were upscale as far as "Luxury" was concerned, and P/A's usually were loaded with all the latest options.......there was a big difference between a Custom and the Limited models of the LeSabre, and was reflected in the price..... |

Re: Why are Park Avenue's Less Than Lesabres?
The GM "C" body, Park Ave's, are built heavier in the sub frame, steering, suspension areas. Powertrain is all standard GM engines/transmissions. Visual comparison can easily be made to verify the "beefier" components. I suspect GM's decision for this was to maintain the higher level of quality in the Park Avenue's market. Now that these cars have been in the markets for 15-20+ years, I see minimal issues for repairs in these areas, compared to Imaplas, LeSabres, etc.
Reason for difference in market value in your area: just the way regional markets operate. Consumer supply/demand pays a huge influence on market prices. This is a clear example on used car managers buying cars in one part of the country and transporting to other areas. Perhaps there is a HUGE supply of Park Avenues in your market, therefore explaining the lower prices. |
