1990 park avenue electric fron hub

It appears if I'm reading this correctly, browsing the net and finding a Moog supplier that the front hub on these models was used on a number of other vehicles. Anyone able to confirm that? Front left on this one seems to cause of strange noise which changes with speed. I have it apart and it does seem noisy turning by hand.

You check for noise while the the bearing is still on the vehicle, not by taking it off.....that way, you make sure you have the correct side.....there are many times, a tech has taken a bearing off and replaced it, and it was the opposite side that was the problem....

as for it being used on many vehicles, what difference does that make? I hope you are not thinking of taking one off a used vehicle....just get a good one from a parts store.....the real cheap ones won't last you a year.......

Actually I raised the vehicle and placed on blocks first. Placed in drive to about 60 mph. The noise was coming from the left side so I removed that hub. You can notice the roughness when you turn by hand so I'm convinced it's the problem. Why not a used part? I've frequently use salvaged parts. Five bolts on the rim, two for the caliper, one axle nut, three more Torx cap screws and the hub is removed. 10-15 minutes work. What's the worst that can happen? I may have to find a second hub and the wrecker I deal with has no problem with exchange. You have to remember this is an old car worth less than a $1000. Not in a rush to spend $100+ for one new hub. What I want to know is what models to search for parts?

the wrecker will have a interchange guige that will tell you what other cars will fit but i agree with the other person, odds are that the other part you may get may be as bad or worn as yours and sometimes its real hard to get the hub off to begin with, they tend to rust into place. you might save by using a used part but i would still go with a new one even if its a chaper import part over and used one, check e-bay or rock auto, new one may not be as much as you think
