Upcoming Tamiya new kit

Apparently they are on a roll with the classic car subjects and will release the Toyota AA.

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

Seems like a strange one for Tamiya. Have they ever done a prewar 1/24 car?

Aoshima or Fujimi maybe?

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

They already did the 1/35 Toyota AB. It wouldn't be too hard for them to scale it up for the AA.

Well.... Actually this car was Toyota's very first passenger car!
Back than (in 1936) the company was still called TOYODA and the price of that car was 3350 yen.... funnily the upcoming model car's price is 3600 yen

I think it's a very interesting subject and I'm looking forward to build one!

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

Oh good, a new boring kit that I'm not at all inclined to purchase!

Looks like a Japanese take on the Chrysler Airflow (another boring subject..)

I found this on Google:

I tell you, all cars today look the same.

This has been said...forever

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

Yeah, it won't be in my pile either. But it's neat. I would bet it will sell like crazy in Japan though. A lot of historical significance though probably not a lot of room to modify prototypically since these were pretty rare and quite expensive when new.

That said, it WOULD make a neat hotrod since it wouldn't look like anything else on the table...

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

Even to Japanese modelers, the item choice is questionable. It could be a joint project between Tamiya and Toyota, because the item can be sold at museums and events. Or, Tamiya may be testing the waters in Europe with the SL Gullwing and in Japan with the AA.

Still, an LFA-sourced V10 hot rod may not be a bad idea.

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

I'm astonished!

If HLJ is to be believed, it will be released this summer.

They'll sell dozens, I'm sure.

Re: Upcoming Tamiya new kit

I know Tamiya makes models for worldwide modelers and not just for me, but... I was really expecting the latest Super GT GT500 class updates. Looks to me that Honda HSV-010, and the newest generation NSX/R35/RC-F are still missing, and Tamiya used to cover Japan GT since who knows when.
The 300SL still looks like a great historical subject worldwide.
