Tyrrell 003, Ebbro, 1/20

Hi,

I managed to finish another one:

The kit is the new Tyrrell 003 by Ebbro, lots of Details, builds into a nice model. However you have to be careful about the fit after painting; I can recommend drilling most pinholes with the next bigger size of drill just like you'd do with MFH kits. Ebbro certainly put some thought into the design of the kit: the intakes are connected to the sprue at the bottom and the rear wing elements can be painted right on the sprue, which makes for easy painting.
I glued the rear wing with the help of 1 rivet per side and element, which helps a lot. I'd also recommend to bring on the rivet decal on the windscreen before glueing it to the body, otherwise you should cut it right on the edge of the black area.

While talking about decals, there was one problem: the decals are a bit stiff and brittle, so it's very hard to bring the number decals to conform to the round sides of the body, and they might break over the rivets. Kurtl suggested to make a cut in the middle of the bottom, which helped a lot.

I'd suggest to paint the 2 big parts of the chassis first, to let them dry enough as you have to handle them a lot. There are also a lot of chrome parts to handle, so make sure they are dried, too, so not to rub the chrome off.

I painted the model with TS15+some TS23 to lighten it up a bit, TS29 and 6, all decanted, Alclad Alu, Steel and Chrome, and Mr. Super Clear on Top. I added some wires and hoses and Leukosilk belts; I applied some Bare Metal Foil to the inside of the cockpit, everything else is from the box.

Hope you like it.
