92 Cherokee won't stay running
Ok so I've got a 92 Cherokee that I have replaced the plugs wires cap and rotor, fuel pump, crankshaft position sensor. I have also tried the idle air control and the throttle position sensor and put a new alternator on it but it will run for a few seconds and then die. If I keep revving it up to bout 3 to 4000 rpm it will stay running if I keep pumping throttle. What else is there I can do? I'm baffled

Re: 92 Cherokee won't stay running
Check for leaks in all the vacuum tubing. On a vehicle that old it is what I would expect.
Check fuel pressure at the throttle body. Check for restrictions in the intake and exhaust. Check fuel filter if you haven't already.

Re: 92 Cherokee won't stay running
Thank you Fred. I actually did some more research and found on a Cherokee forum a ballast resistor for the fuel pump. I jumped the two wires and it started and ran perfect. I can't believe a 10 part fixed it but I'm happy none the less. Thank you.

Nice catch! That's a new one on me. Glad you're back on the road.
