I am building a Renaissance subaru s12 model which is a resin kit. I have sanded the whole body with 800# to remove all the textures. I am going to apply some tamiya primer on it. Just wanna konw before painting the primer, what step should I take here. Should I use some tack cloth to avoid fish eyes (like they do before applying 2K clear coat) or just wash it with water to clean all the dust? Any suggestions?
Cheers! Mike |

Re: Suggestions of painting resin kits?
Make up a basin with some dishwasher detergent in it and let the kit stand in that for a day to dissolve off any mold release agents, resin kits can have some strong mold release on them which will prevent paint adhering.

Re: Suggestions of painting resin kits?
I agree with ray. you can also brush them with the soap soak just to make sure all the mold release gets removed.

Re: Suggestions of painting resin kits?
Used the washing up liquid to clean the kit and applied tamiya primer. So far so good, no fish eye yet. Cheers!
