02 Imp Alighnment difficulty?

127,000 mi. I have replaced lower control arms that had the bushings in upside down from the original ( I posted awhile back that that this is an ok revision in the parts cat at my supplier)
I have also replaced the outer tie rod ends with non original by Moog. inner were good and tight (no play). I have had it into the chevy dealer twice for alignment and charged only once. But I still have this problem that I can't find center driving. I took it to another dealer and am told that it needs grease in the intermediate shaft and that will solve this. I don't think it will, I have it in my head that the tie rod ends are not as good as the original parts. Am I off base in this thinking? I am getting the grease done Tuesday since I can't do this myself anymore. I am also thinking I may have put the tie rod ends castle nuts too tight and wondering if this could be cause. Tech II, J. cat. Maxwedge

this is driving me nuts

Not sure what you mean here, the steering wheel is not straight when driving straight ahead?

The Moog tie rod ends are just as good, if not better than OEM so, yes you are off on your thinking. Overtightening the castle nuts will not cause your issue either. Also the dealer that said greasing the ISS will fix your issue is a moron.

It sounds like a piss poor alignment job to me, or your rack is wore and needs replaced. Just because there is no play in the inner tie rods does not mean the rack is not worn. I am getting ready to replace my rack due to play in the center of steering and everything under the front of my car is tight.

Re: 02 Imp Alighnment difficulty?

Maxwedge: the steering wheel is straight but have to put pressure to the left and when I do I have to move it back right so I am kind of going left to right to keep track. kind of like driving on balloons. the tires are new. Maybe it's a bad alignment as suggested below. The chevy dealer had done this before for me 2 years ago and was good but personnel change or rotate jobs within the shop I guess.
Steathee: Thanks I will also get that rack checked out as well.

Get the alignment specs from the final printout off the alignment machine and post them.
