HUD install questions

Hey guys, haven't been around in a while. Not sure who's still here from the "originals" haha. Just got back in the Grand Prix game, picked up a real clean '97 coupe for $500. Needed a motor so I picked up a low mileage l67 of course been running strong now for about 6k

I just did the DIC swap today. I was one of the lucky ones, had the plug down by the airbag.

I've got a HUD unit as well, just been trying to work up the courage to cut my dash. My question is, supposedly the '97 has the plug for the HUD as well. Today I was gonna install the dimmer switch while I had the dash bezel off, but I couldn't find the plug?

Anyone know where the plug would be located? There was a harness inside that was wrapped up, would it be somewhere in there..? I didn't notice a plug for the HUD either. Didn't take the dash cluster out though.

I'm trying to avoid the headache of splicing wires, and I don't have a soldering iron either. Any help is appreciated!

Re: HUD install questions

Here's a few pics of the car, the old motor is hanging on the cherrypicker in the last one.

Re: HUD install questions

Sharp! But which wheels are you keeping on it.

Instead of cutting your dash, have you considered getting one from a salvage yard that already has the cutout for the HUD?

To give you an idea of what you're looking for, here's the connector on my 99 GTP coupe HUD. Wires go down behind the instrument cluster.

Re: HUD install questions

The top pic is a "before" from the day I bought it. The bottom pic is after I debadged it, claybared, buffed and waxed it. Picked up the "17 Boss 318 wheels for cheap and threw them on there.

Tearing the whole dash out of the car seems like a real PITA haha, I think I'd much rather cut a hole in the dash
