Lola T93/00 - Arie Luyendyk - 1993 Indy 500 - Tamiya - 1/20

Finshed this Arie Luyendyk 1993 Lola last weekend. This is the "snap-loc" tamiya kit with Indycals decals to represent the car Arie used to take pole position for the 1993 Indianapolis 500.

It was build almost straight from the box, but I did do a couple of small things different:

• Top and bottom of the cockpit were glued together to get rid of the seam. I managed to find a way to get the suspension in by cutting them in several pieces.
• on the rear right of the body the air-inlet(?) was changed.
• I added aftermarket seat belts in the cockpit.

I used Zero paints for everything except the wheels, exhaust and e pop-off valve which were painted with alclad chrome.

I had the pleasure of staying in the same hotel as Arie that week. Twice we had breakfast at the same time and briefly talked about Indy and cars in general. While he was a very serious and focused man at the track, he proved to be a sincere real kind of car guy off it.

Real nice work, on a real nice scheme, from an overall real nice kit, for a real nice guy.
