3.8, 3800 2003 monte carlo
I tried starting my 3.8 chev motor and it exploded, blew the plastic all to pieces, and caught fire. Right where the intake is. What could have caused this

I'm going to bet you unsuccessfully turned the car over several times before this happened.
Long story short, fuel built up in the intake manifold, and when it finally sparked... BOOM!
