Re: Is it possible to import a car from Japan
I'd suggest you start by checking with the DOT in the state you wish to register the car in. If they cannot answer the question, they should be able to provide you information on who can.

Re: Is it possible to import a car from Japan
It has to be 25 years old or older. Otherwise it won't meet the safety and emissions standards over here. After it's 25 years old, they don't care anymore. Beyond that, there are certain cars they still just simply won't allow, even if it's used as a show car (never driven on the road).

It's ok with you even if Japanese cars are a right-hand drive? Check this article out: http://www.superstreetonline.com/fea...-into-the-usa/ It talks about the difficulty of importing vehicles into the country. Maybe it can answer your question.
