How good is this kit to build a moderatly good E30 rally car Gr. A? I know most (every ?) kit of the E30 are not scale but is this one good for someone looking for an ok build using a Studio 27 decal sheet??

We still won't as the link does not work. I am guessing it is not the Fujimi kit.

Re: How good? M3

Judging by the product ID from Spot Model, it looks to be this.

The only good part about that kit is the box art.

Thanks for the help....

Is it really THAT bad?

What would be a good option for a rally gr. A car? Love the look of those....

It really is that bad. It is the worst kit in my collection. A wretched excuse for a scale model.

Making a decent looking M3 from a random piece of driftwood would be as easy.

Re: How good? M3

I have to agree with the rest of the replies.
Working on the Mercedes-Benz 190E Evolution II currently, a kit in the same series from Fujimi and I have scratch built 80% of the kit (suspension, interior, roll cage...).
Shame, but I would not recommend this M3 kit based on my experience with Fujimi and the posts made by people here. Would love to add an M3 to my DTM collection, but not at the price of all the man hours needed to make a decent model from this base kit.

/J.

Re: How good? M3

I keep on saying the same thing for 10 years : Tamiya, Beemax, Aoshima, Belkits or whatever would be VERY inspired to release a proper M3 E30 kit. Bestseller for sure !

Re: How good? M3

It has a lot to do with expectations. If you just want an E30 M3 look-like, the kit will suffice. For everyone else, it's a nightmare.
I've heard so much bad thing about the kit, so I bought two just to have a hands-on experience, and I'll probably get another one soon.
I'm not so familiar with the E30 M3, but even to my eyes, everything seems wrong, including the basic body dimensions. I don't even know if there are any parts that actually represent the real car.

But, the thing is, a poor kit means lots of kit-bashing and scratch-building fun. Raising the roof line is a common fix, and we've seen many skilled modelers on AF who turn the kit into a presentable model.
I want to build one street version and two of Ratzenberger''s race cars, the white with stripes (with Fujimi decals) and the red Demon Tweaks livery (with the help of the Alps printer).
