Clunky/Thumpy rough ride

I have an '01 Beetle TDI, 300,000km. The car feels every bump and crack in the road. Midas tells me that my shoks are fine. My tires are recent, balanced and right air pressure. What else could be wrong with my supension.
I would like to offer my passengers a nice quiet & smooth ride.
