94 Olds 98, no start question
I replaced the alternator on my mother's 94 Olds Ninety-eight, and now I have an issue where the car will not start. It's like its not getting fuel, but I could jump it and start it with no problem a month ago with the old alternator on it, once the jumper cables were removed the car would die. I got the newer alternator from a salvage yard. Is there any way that the alternator could affect the fuel pump not working? One thing I did not check is the wire that plugs into the top of the alternator (not the one that attaches to the bolt, this one plugs in)....does this wire control fuel pump function? The salvage yard did not have an exact match on the old alternator, they found one that came off a Buick (I think it was) that looked practically the same, I just plugged the wire in and didn't notice whether the terminals were the same, could this be it?
