Just a quick question. I have a engine code of P0179. Can anyone tell me more about this code, what to replace in order to clear it?

I do know I have tried different suppliers and no matter what it made know difference. I bought the truck used and the truck runs good no noticeable misfires, no loss of power, not difficult to start. Light just comes on when resets. No other codes have popped up as of yet |

so E85 which is basically all alcohol this sensor reports to the PCM this is whats in there then operates the engine in the alcohol fuel mode. this repair if done at a GM dealership will cost you about $1200...they will replace the $500 sensor and the $400 PCM also $200 labor. what you can do is first purchase 89/93 octane fuel. put a bottle of techron cleaner in the fuel . see if the light goes away. if not then under the hood is fuel lines these go into and out of this sensor this is the part that is making this 90%of the time disconnect the fuel lines need a GM fuel line release tool plastic $10. then use some carb cleaner with a straw and flush out these tubes to from it. hopefully that will fix it also avoid using E85 as this fuel is damaging and also reduces the MPG very much. post back how it works out. E85 is 85% plus alcohol.....87 octane is 10% max alcohol. 93octane has the least amount of alcohol. |
