Opel Ascona 1,9 SR

Opel's famous rally car of the mid-seventies: The Ascona A 1,9 SR succesfull in many rallies all over Europe.
To build this model I used the old kit of Scale Production which I modified and improved in many ways:
A new roll cage was made, using modified parts from Tamiya's Quattro, Seats are taken from Hasegawa's Stratos and steering wheel from Esci's Escort (Walter Röhrl used a steering wheel with four spokes...).
Tyres are from Fujimi's Safari Porsche, additional lights by Esci (old VW Golf kit), wipers PE parts by Studio 27, Antenna by Sakatsu, reversing lamp is also from Hasegawa's Stratos.
Because the decals delivered with the kit dissolved in water (obviously printed with an ink jet printer, ink blurred) I decided to make some new decals. I had done a scan of Scale Production's decal sheet before, so now I could do a reprint with my laser printer, which gave a much better quality. The black stripes are painted by airbrush (Humbrol 85 sm) instedad of using decals delivered with the kit.
The pilots are modified figures by Fujimi.
It was a lot of work to do, but I enjoy the result. Maybe you will enjoy the model too...

As I said before - hope you will enjoy it, like I do...
Regards
Stefan

Re: Opel Ascona 1,9 SR

I am not too sure if this kit captures this car's shape so well but your build is beautiful Not enough Opel kits in 1/24 scale !
