Ferrari 250 LM

Hi guys, today I show you my Ferrari 250 LM 1/24 from Academy that I finished autumn last year.

I don't know if such a livery ever existed on a real road car, but I liked the combination, which was inspired by race cars like #29. Paint is Zero's Tour de France blue, the white details are plain white decal paper, cut to size, and placed directly on the blue paint, in double layers to get a good rich white colour. Everything was then topped with TS13 gloss clear. All chrome parts like handles were cut off before painting, and put back on after the body was finished.
I also used some extra material like photo etch parts from the scrap box, flocking, seat belts, wires, exhaust pipes, emblems, metal rims, metal mesh etc. The engine lid can't be opened, but since I cut out so many openings, I installed a very basic interiour in the engine compartment and the nose area. So when looking through the mesh from the outside, it should seem like "something is in there".
Since the tires looked very shiny and toy-like, I gave them a good wash+rub with paint thinner, to dull the surface.
The only thing I just couldn't get to work/fit properly were the chrome headlight surroundings, so I didn't put them on.
Enjoy the pictures, any questions, comments and criticism welcome.

I think it was the KA-Models Ferrari 250 wire wheel set, with the inner aluminium ring cut to size, since the tires are too narrow for the complete KA-Models rims.

Actually the Academy kit is not so bad, or let's say, it has potential, if you're willing to invest some extra work (and money - for accessories). The kit has no mayor flaws that couldn't be corrected. Except maybe those headlight surroundings, which might be replaced by some BMF before installing the head light covers. So if you don't want to invest in a MFH kit, this should be some good alternative.

Re: Ferrari 250 LM

Very nice result from a kit that is not as poor as often said but not as good as it could be.
