05 Vic electrical question

Hi All, got an odd one here. I have an 05 that the headlights stay on even when you shut the car off, the switch does not turn them on & off at all but the blinkers & hazards do work. Right now to shut the headlights off I unplug the top lcm plug on the back of the module. For reference the wipers & rear defrost do not seem to work as well in case they might be related or on he same circuit. No CEL codes are displayed. Below is a list of diagnosis and switch outs I've done, any thoughts on what to check next would be appreciated. Thank you. Kevin

*Did LCM recall so new LCM
*swapped multifunction switch
*swapped headlight control switch
*checked fuses in car & under hood for blown fuses
*checked wiriing for leftover police harnesses

Re: 05 Vic electrical question

So, this is a P71 then?

Is there a headlight relay kit installed on the vehicle?

Re: 05 Vic electrical question

Yes it's a P71. No relay kit installed. This is my 20th year of refurbishing state cruisers & I currently have 5 of them in the yard, this one is a strange one as I've never been a big fan of hunting down electrical issues.

Re: 05 Vic electrical question

Behind the grille is a connector that can be used for the headlight flasher. This is just a stab in the dark ... but if this connector has power added somehow, this could cause the issue you are having.

The connector is located under the horns on the passenger side front, behind the grille. With no flasher present, these two wires should be shunted as shown in the pictures.

These pictures are from my own car, also an '05.

Re: 05 Vic electrical question

yeah I re-connected that when I first got the car. That connected wouldn't make it so the manual light switch wouldn't work though plus with the wipers & rear defrost not working I'm guessing it's a relay or bad wire somewhere. I'll need to dig up a wiring diagram and look more closely at it. Again, I'm not a big fan of tracking down electrical issues. thank you
