OEM+ Tamiya S2000

Hey guys,

Haven't been on this site in a while. But I recently got a TAMIYA Honda S2000 kit for my birthday so this gives me the perfect opportunity to jump back into things.

Here is my S2000 IRL. I have my stock winter wheels on now but in the Summer I run 17" enkei RPF1s. First picture was before my car was in a collision. Second picture with winter wheels was after the repairs and updated bumper

My goal is to come somewhat close to it but not exactly. I'm not comfortable enough with my scratchbuilding yet. This will be a curbside kit so I'm not too focused on the underside.

What I plan:
Model Scientists' Ap2 front bumper conversion: working on it
Scratchbuilt Side diffusers: just need paint
Enkei RPF1: ordered today from a member
Mugen hardtop: Still need to order
slight lowering: pretty much done
Chicane Silver paint: couldn't find silverstone at the time and this was close enough
Display: Just need to finish the model
Custom HKS High power dual exhaust like my own: need to start
Black carpet flocking: ordered

diffusers now cut out since this pic

Good ol snapchat

And the 3d printed RPF1s in 17x9" specs

Re: OEM+ Tamiya S2000

Thanks!

My biggest concern is cleaning up this front bumper. They didn't cast it very clean and it's not very symmetrical.

Body is in primer but I keep finding more visible scratches.. :/

Re: OEM+ Tamiya S2000

Sorry, it's been a while. Found some time at my side job to play with some pieces.

Another buddy of mine bought me a second S2000. So I'll be doing the other one completely different (i.e. red interior, top down, RHD, maybe a body kit, etc)

Wheels finally came in. I sprayed them without scuffing them so the texture came out rough... Does anyone know an efficient way of lightly scuffing the texture off wheels? I was thinking toothpaste..

My painted side diffusers and still working on this bumper..

I'm actually quite astounded by the amount of work I've had to put in this bumper... not satisfied with Model Scientists on this one..

Where the diffusers will go..

And my first time flocking. I think it came out pretty well. Used 3m spray adhesive instead of a liquid glue. Seemed to work out just fine.

Just thrown together to make sure it all still fit ok with the extra material.

Next steps,
1. Find an aftermarket steering wheel to match mine,
2. Find a ball small enough to match my shift knob, the one I found has a hole on each end so I might try to find something else.
3. Continue working with this bumper... It's a freaking headache...
4. Strip wheels and try to find an efficient way of lightly scuffing the surface.
5. Purchase a Mugen hardtop to match mine.

Thanks for looking!!

Re: OEM+ Tamiya S2000

Nice work so far! Must be Awesome to have a S2000!!!
Checkout eightyone81.com I think they sell a resin hardtop not sure which one.
Also Scale Production have a AMUSE front bumper which isnt too dissimmilair to your OEM unit. http://www.scaleproduction.de/produc...nt-bumper.html quality will be a hell of a lot better than MSCorp!!!

Re: OEM+ Tamiya S2000

OH my god!! I may just purchase that instead. I'm running an OEM style front lip on my AP2 bumper now so this would actually be more accurate. Thanks for sharing that with me.

And thanks. I rather enjoy the car. For being 24 I'd say I now own one of my dream cars with my own efforts and hard work. ^_^

And yes, i'm picking up the hardtop for eightyone81. Just trying to pick up something else from them from one of their other kits. They won't respond to my emails though... :/

It's Chinese New Year now so it might take a while for them to reply.

Glad I could help! Working hard to acquire your dream car is something i agree with completely! & also did myself, Brought a S15 Silvia when I was 22, told then girlfriend (turned wife) it was my midlife crisis vehicle. Had her for 8 extremely fun years, Sadist day of my life selling that baby...
Carseat didnt fit in the back... Oh well only another few years till I hit 3/4 life crisis time....

Re: OEM+ Tamiya S2000

This is going to be cool. Your 1:1 is excellent and I can't wait to see you build it in 1:24. Your flocking is awesome - the most convincing flocking I've seen, good enough to make me feel like it's a good idea and not just a gimmick. Great work.

Re: OEM+ Tamiya S2000

Da_ashman- jealous!! Clean s15s are hard to find here in the states. My best friend is looking for every chance in the world to trade his 350z for one.

When my buddy gets around to bringing it to me I've got a comptech supercharger waiting to go on it.

Willimo- thanks!! I really appreciate it. This was honestly my first attempt EVER at using flocking and I'm pretty sure I didn't follow the DIY at ALL but I'm happy with the results. Gives me more confidence for future models!!
